U.S. Carries Out Attacks on Iranian Targets Near the Strait of Hormuz

Al-Taj News – The United States carried out attacks on Iranian targets near the Strait of Hormuz, according to Axios on Tuesday.

Iranian television reported Tuesday evening that “explosions were heard on Qeshm Island without official confirmation.”

The attacks come amid rising tensions between Washington and Tehran around the strait, which is one of the world’s most important maritime routes for transporting energy.

Axios reported Monday that U.S. President Donald Trump and his senior advisers were considering carrying out limited military strikes against Iranian targets near the Strait of Hormuz, with the aim of preventing Iran from rebuilding radar, air defense, and anti-ship missile systems used to target maritime traffic.

According to the website, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) prepared the plan over the past week, and it received the support of U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, amid U.S. concerns over Iranian attempts to rebuild its military capabilities around the strait.

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported late Monday that a vessel was hit by three “unidentified projectiles” while transiting the Strait of Hormuz, causing a fire to break out on board.
